Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Texas

changing attorneys

I am in the process of filing bankrupcy and am having trouble with my attorney. It has taken 6 months to get paperwork done (basic personal bankrupcy chapter 7). It has now been three months since I signed the papers. I do not beleive he has filed them. He will not answer calls. How do I change attorneys and what work in process and fees am I entitled to?

Thanks

Re: changing attorneys

I believe you would be entitled to receive at least a portion of your fees back. You will have to pay another attorney if you want to hire a new lawyer. If you call me I will check to see if the case has been file yet. You are also free to contact the State Bar of Texas and file a grievance against the lawyer in question. Has the lawyer indicated there was a strategy for waiting to file? Please call me at (972) 231-5500 or (800) 303-0720
