chapter 7 bankruptcy

Regarding Chapter 7, Bankruptcy- if a person goes this route does he/she have to tell prospective employers, what about getting credit again -- or selling a home?

You will not need to notify your employer. In fact, there is a provision of the bankruptcy code which states that it is illegal to terminate someone based on the fact that he/she files bankruptcy. After you file you will be able to re-establish your credit. Usually, you will be able to get a new credit card in 2 to 3 months. In about 8 to 12 months you should be able to get a new car loan. In 1 to 3 years you should be able to qualify for a home mortgage. PLEASE READ MY FIRM PHILOSOPHY! Everyone is entitled to a fresh start. If your employer is not a creditor, the employer generally would not be notified. Prospective employers may not ask the question, but if asked you should disclose. Credit will have to be built up over time. You could start with a secured credit card, perhaps buy a car with a large down payment etc. Selling your home is not a problem. Larry Maun 713.266.2560
