Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Texas
After Chapter 13 If my Salary increases do I have to report it?
If I get a significant increase in salary at work or receive a $2000 - $3000 bonus, do I have to report that to my Trustee. I filed Chapter 13 in Texas. Also, can I ever have a chance at buying a home (I would use the bonus moneyfor a down payment). What happens if I do not report the bonus to the trustee? Do they get copies of W2 forms every year to track if I have an increase in pay?

Income increase after Chapter 13 confirmation
I can't say how receipt of a bonus would be treated in your district bankruptcy court; however, potential bonuses are generally the subject of inquiry by the Chapter 13 Trustee at your 341 meeting. If your Chapter 13 Plan makes no provision for payment of any part of your bonus into the plan, your bonus is exempt from plan payment. Keep in mind, as I have written before, that the sooner you pay off your Chapter 13 Plan, the sooner you get your discharge. You may make voluntary payments to the Chapter 13 Trustee outside the Plan and the Chapter 13 Trustee must apply them to the plan. Have you discussed this with the attorney who handled your Chapter 13? If not, you should.
