what happens if i can't pay the monthly minimums on credit cards?

If you cannot pay the minimums you can either pay a smaller amount or consider bankruptcy. Most companies will accept smaller amounts and post them to your account but they will eventually charge you late fees because you are not making the full minimum payment.
