Debt owed 20 years ago, discharged in bankruptcy
A debt collector has contacted us by mail to tell us they want money from a dept. store account from 1987. This account was discharged from Bankruptcy in 1990, do we have to do something, or just ignore it?

Suggest you send the creditor a copy of the bankruptcy discharge, and a copy of the bankruptcy pleadings listing them as a creditor. Trying to collect a debt discharged in bankruptcy is a violation of federal law.
