Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Texas
Divorced from someone now filing Chapter 7
I have been divorced from a man for over 2 years now. In the divorce decree, my ex-husband was given responsibility of repaying 2 credit cards and a loan on a boat - all of which were joint accounts. I have recently found out my ex-husband has filed Chapter 7. How will this affect my credit?

the credit card company can go after either of you. you need to have a bankruptcy lawyer look at your divorce judgment. depending on how it is worded his obligation to pay may not be discharged by the bankruptcy.
