Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Texas
Filing Banckruptcy in VA with auto purchased in TX
I purchased a ''smartbuy'' auto from a dealership in Texas. When ask what happens to the car if I have to file bankruptcy they said I would have to turn it in due to Texas law prohibiting you to keep the car.
I have since moved to the State of VA, refinanced my car with the same company(nolonger a smart buy)but still have to file bankruptcy. Can I keep the car or do I turn it back in? Thank you so much for your help in this matter.

"They" are wrong. You can keep the car if you work the repayment into your plan. An attorney can assist you in doing this.
