Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Texas
If a judgement was rendered against a company in a court of law
If a judgement was rendered against a company for payment of a job performed and then the company files bankruptcy, can they tie it up in the bankruptcy court or are they liable for the judgement? Thank You! Leisa

Depends on whether the judgment was abstracted to create a lien against the bankrupt. The collection on the judgment may be delayed, and other liens may be ahead of the judgment lien which could mean that the judgment becomes an unsecured claim diminishing the chances of any recovery.
