Not necessarily, if I understand you to mean "personal possessions" to include household furnishings, clothes, jewelry, a motor vehicle, and the other "stuff" that makes up our personal estates, be it probate, community property estate, etc. Most of those items can be exempted under federal or Texas law in bankruptcy up to a certain dollar amount. Now, if you have a second home in the mountains, a spare car, a gold coin collection, or rare art work worth some money, those are the types of things you could be forced to give up. Make a list and take it to a bankruptcy attorney, just to be sure.
