Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Texas

Reastablishing Credit

I just receivd a decharge of my bankruptcy in May of 2000. I received a letter from a financial institute stating they can reastablish my credit in 14 day. They claim they can issue me a new nine digit number to replace my Social Secruity Number on Credit applications. They set up a new credit file and issue a 5000 dollar unsecrured credit card to astablish credit for a fee $199 to $219. This sounds like it is to good to be true. Is this legal to fraud the creditor by leading them to look at file with no history of past debt. Is this a legal service and is this just a scam on despert people. They state one's SSN is not asociated with credit it was the creditors that claim this number to use to for idientify us.

Re: Reastablishing Credit

Sounds like a scam and yes you could subject yourself to liability for fraud. I would report this to the attorney generals office as well as to the Bankruptcy Court.
