Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Texas
recently went to the meeting of creditors with a family member who went bankrupt. It all pro forma but one question got me thinking as I am considering doing the same thing. Each person was asked if they had child support or spousal debt. all answered no so i did not see what would happened as in my case answering yes so could you tell the effect this would be on me if I said I had child support debt.? To me since you can not discharge that debt why ask?

Federal law requires that the spouse is informed of any proceedings. In chapter 13, to receive a discharge a party must be current on all post petition bankruptcy payments to receive a discharge.
