Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Texas

Selling house after bankruptcy

I own my house but its value isn't that much more than my credit card debt. Can I sell immediately after the judgement is rendered and keep the profit?

About how long does the process of bankruptcy take, start to finish?

Re: Selling house after bankruptcy

The equity in your house is exempt from creditors. You can file bankruptcy and assuming that your credit card debt is all dischargable, sell your house and keep the proceeds. The bankruptcy process takes about 180 days but you need not wait to the end of it to sell your house. Once you file, and assuming your debt is dischargable, you can sell the house and the proceeds are yours. Larry Maun 713.266.2560
