Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Texas
I am a single mom in Texas thinking of bankruptcy
I live in housing, work at a pt job. I am divorced with 4 credit cards that = aprox. 4500.00$, and while I was married we took a loan out that is know at 18,000$(?) under his name but I cosigned and he ran up a cellphone bill to about 500$ . Would it be ideal for me to file bk. I would like to be able to get a house in hopefully 5yrs. OH! No car and No more mortgage payment.

Bankruptcy alone on your credit record will not prevent you from getting a house. A bad credit rating will. If you pay your bills on time without exception for five years after the bankrupcty and do all of the other things you need to qualify for a mortgage, you should be able get into a house in five years.
I practice bankrupcy law and may be willing to assist you. Feel free to email me if you are interested.
