Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Texas

I just sold my home in Dallas, TX. & have received proceeds from the sale. I now want to file chapter 7 to wipe out previous debts from a failed marriage. Can I do this being I have cash from my home? Are these proceeds attachable by unsecured creditors?

You need to see a bankruptcy attorney. It is possible that for a limited time, the proceeds of a sale of a homestead, take on the exempt character of the homestead.
