Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Texas
If i and my wife feel chapter 13 is too overwelming for us, what can we do. do we file for chapter 7. can we even do that? thanks.

Not everyone can file chapter 7. To determine if you can file chapter 7, you need to see if you can pass the "means" test. Suggest you consult a bankruptcy attorney to see if you qualify for chapter 7.
