Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Texas

Yesterday I agreed to sign a judgment paper given me by an attorney for a credit card company I owe $24,000 to. I do not know what else to do. Debt collectors call all day and night, come to my home and beat on my door and wall of my home and walk around my yard screaming my name and demanding I come outside. My debt is due to my wife's medical bills and I have another 4 credit cards getting ready to sue me for another $60,000. I am in Texas and my house is a Homestead. My wife is disabled and we have no assistance other than food stamps. I have two old cars over 24 years old, one non-running. I have less than $1000 to my name in the bank and that is only because I borrowed the money from the bank to live on. I have one lot of land I bought 30 years ago in another county I have tried to sell for years. The lot is taxed at $4900, but much of the property in the area has been abandoned and is up for grabs for back taxes and thus the real lot value in the area is nearly nothing. My home is paid for and is valued at $64,000. I am still waiting for several thousand dollars from the insurance company to repair hurricane damage from 1 and 1/2 years ago. I owe my son $15,300. How can be sure my son gets paid first and my things are not taken. We are so poor we have no doctors and buy insulin from friends and off Craigslist to keep my wife alive. I am worried about putting any money in the bank from insurance when it comes because the credit card attorney said he could take my bank account, even if it was shared with my 32-year-old son. Please help fast as I am supposed to sign the agreement to the judgment tomorrow, but I will delay it as long as possible. I will see what it cost to get an answer, but every penny I spend is less for my wife's needs. I am trying to go Chapter 7, but have no money for court cost and can not get help from free legal aid clinics because I may owe back income tax. Please help. Thank you. James

Number one, don't sign judgments against yourself. "Just say no."

Simply say, "I absolutely refuse to sign ANYTHING. Period."

Hang up on the debt collectors who call. It's the easiest thing in the world to do; no physical effort at all. If necessary, unplug your phone.

If anyone walks around your house screaming your name, call the police.

Myself, I would buy a paintball gun, and would shoot them with it. Trespassers beware.

Or I would go to the pound and buy the largest, ugliest dog they had, and chain him to my front door.

And in the meantime: Go online and look up bankruptcy lawyers. Call every one of them until you find one who can help you. You really, really need to file bankruptcy. Bankruptcy was made for people in your situation.
