How do I start a 501 3 c tax free corporation?

First you form a non-profit corporation. Then you file an application with the IRS for 501(c)(3) status. But before you even start, read section 501 of the Internal Revenue Code to see what you must do to qualify.

Not as simple as it sounds. First you have to form an entity. Typically a not for profit entity under Texas Statutes. Then you have to apply to the Internal Revenue Service of the United States (IRS) for a recognition of exemption.
