Legal Question in Business Law in Texas
Attorney dropping case
My attorney dropped my case 2 weeks before trial because she found out the guy who was suing me (i sued back) didnt have any money. It was a corporation of mine. The other attorneys found out she was dropping me and then wanted to settle. I had to pay them because what was I going to do without an attorney 2 wks before the court date. This was two years of negotiations. Then she made me sign a personal commitment for the fees I had with her before she would settle. Seems like blackmail.

Re: Attorney dropping case
What you write doesn't make sense. An attorney who dropped a case wouldn't be around to work out a settlement. You can complain to the bar association, but I don't see what you have to complain to them about. If you had won, and the other party has no money, then you would not have been able to collect and most likely would be paying your attorney anyway. The fact that you paid the other party, implies that there are facts you have left out.
