Legal Question in Business Law in Texas
Binding Contract
I am a 27 yr old single mother. My grandma pays for my sons after school care. About 1 yr ago, she enrolled my son in a karate program. She filled out all the paperwork since she was going to take on the finacial responsability. A year later, me and my 6 year old son have decided that karate is not the extra curricular activity that he or I are interested in anymore. I gave my 30 days written notice to withdrawl him. Apparently the enrollment form that my grandma signed is a 3 yr contract. To get out of this contract will cost 5000.00 dollars! Since she signed the parent/legal gardian line without my consent, and committed my son to 3 years of something with out my permission, is it binding? She is in now way the parent or the legal gardian of my son and i would have never committed a 6 yr old to 3 years of something that we werent even sure he would want to continue?
