Legal Question in Business Law in Texas
can your boss fire you for something that is going on in your life if it is personal

It appears that you're in Texas. That means that, absent a contract between the employee and employer, either party has the right to terminate employment for almost any reason.
Most of the exceptions to this rule deal with what you do at work: an employer cannot discriminate against you based on age, race, national origin, religion, or gender. And, you can't be fired for filing a Workers' Compensation claim or for reporting your employer for a legal violation.
Almost anything else is fair game.
I hope this helps.
Good luck.
Unfortunately, Texas follows the "at-will" doctrine when it comes to the employer-employee relationship. What this means is that an employer can fire an employee "at-will," or at the employer's discretion no matter the reason, except that an employer cannot fire someone for a reason that is protected under discrimination laws. Some examples include, but are not limited to, firing an employee because of the employee's race, color, national original, gender, age, disability or religion.
Based on your statement, the answer is generally yes because an employer in Texas can fire you for any reason, even if it is personal. However, you should immediately contact an attorney to discuss your situation, especially if you feel that one of the items above may have been a factor in the firing.
