Legal Question in Business Law in Texas
Can my business get in trouble for using some elses idea?
I recently moved to Texas, and am starting my own business painting murals and faux finishes. I am beginning a partnership with a Window Treatment Store selling Custom Painted Window Shades. We got our idea from a muralist in a near by town who selling and printing her designs on window shades through a partnership with a printing company. We are needing to know if we are liable to any legal problems for taking an idea and making it our own?

I doubt that the concept of painting windowshades is protected intellectual property. Just don't copy her designs! That would be a copyright violation.
