Legal Question in Business Law in Texas
Copyright Question
We recently built an online anti-spam system called http://www.spamstinger.com/. Yesterday and today I received emails from the owner of a similar system called http://www.spamrival.com claiming that we were violating his copyright and that he will sue us if we don't shut down our service and pay him to use his service. My question is how can I tell if he does or does not actually have a copyright? Today I went to the U.S. Copyright Website located at http://www.copyright.gov and searched for his name and service and could not find anything about him. We think that he is trying to bully us but want to make sure that we are not doing anything wrong.

Re: Copyright Question
For starters, ask him to send you a copy of his copyright documents.
