Legal Question in Business Law in Texas

Enforceable Non-Compete Clause?

My employer recently changed our sales compensation plan in such a way as to greatly hamper my ability to earn a living. Part of the change was to renew our non-compete clause, which prohibits us from working for a competitor for 6 months. If I leave, can I go to work for a competitor if I call on a different set of ''new''customers for 6 months? That seems to me to avoid any conflict.

In order for non-compete clauses to be valid, they must meet specific legal criteria. Without seeing your contract and more information, I can't say whether yours would work or not.
