Legal Question in Business Law in Texas
My father loaned me $7,000 is 2003 to pay for fertility treatments. He mailed a promissory note with the check. I never signed the promissory note. He is now demanding payment and interest. Is the promissory note enforceable?

As a Franchise Attorney I can say the following. The written promissory note is not likely enforceable, but it appears it was a loan and therefore there is an obligation to repay. Your father could sue, claiming a number of theories - including an oral promissory note. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
