Legal Question in Business Law in Texas
I did a freelance job on verbal agreements. I have emails back and forth that co-relates to that agreement. I have done meetings with them. i have a voice mail asking me to make the website live by one of the owners. They have not complained about any of my work. But after seeing my bill, they have a big problem. After allowing more then 2 weeks for them to make some kind of payment arrangements that work for both of us. I took pointed the website to under construction page for until they make a payment. They changed the website to a new one. The new website looks like they have been working on for a while with an intent of not using my services. They agreed to pay me hourly for my work.

In Texas, verbal agreements are legal. Any communications between the parties may be used to help prove there was an agreement. If the amount owed to you is $10,000 or less, your best bet is small claims court. There you do not need a lawyer and there are no formal court rules.
