Legal Question in Business Law in Texas
Gas Lease Contract
I signed, as the lessor, a contract with a gas drilling company. The contract specifically stated an amount, as initial payment, and concurrent royalty payment. I read the contract, which did not stipulate in any of the documents that the payment is contingent on the quantity of gas found under my property.
However, when I received the check today, the amount was half the amount stated in the contract.
I called the company. Their explanation was the amount of gas they found was about 50% less than their projections.
I have not cashed the check. Do I have any legal rights to demand the full payment stated in the contract?
Thank You and I look forward to a response.
