Legal Question in Business Law in Texas
I hired a sales rep (independant contractor) who quit before we signed a contract, and took the accounts I hired her on for herself. Am I obligated to pay her commissions without a contract?

If you don't pay her she could sue you in regard to your verbal agreement to pay her commissions. However, you could sue her for taking your account information if you also had a verbal agreement about that. Verbal agreements are very hard to prove but there might be evidence of your agreement in emails, texts, recorded conversations etc. This is just a judgment call on your part about what you want to do.
