Legal Question in Business Law in Texas
Inheritance Money
I purchased a home with inheritance money. I paid all mortage payments with it. Now I am splitting with roommate and he wants half of what I get back at closing. He is on the deed but not on the loan. is he intitled to half the money? if not what do I need to do to insure I receive all the money at closing

Re: Inheritance Money
Why did you put him on the deed. That's ownership. Sounds like your going to have to pay him something to get him off the deed. What was he paying? Sounds like you need to see an attorney.
Re: Inheritance Money
If the roommate's name is on the deed to the house, then the roommate has an ownership interest. If you can't come up with an agreed amount to pay him, then you will have to litigate to determine a fair payment. Did the roommate contribute anything to the down payment?
Re: Inheritance Money
You have needed to see an attorney since you got that money; don't put it off any longer!
