Legal Question in Business Law in Texas
Locked out
I sub-lease a room for my business and was current on my rent. Nov.2001 With 3 years to go on my lease I was told at 4:30pm to vacate by 10:00pm the same evening or find my things outside. After a fax from an attorney I was left alone. Feb 2002 my security key was again turned off late afternoon so I moved out. Now I am being sued for the remainder of the lease. Do I have any recourse?

Re: Locked out
Possibly. If you have been constructively evicted, they can't sue you for the unpaid balance after they forced you out.
You'll need an attorney to handle, or at least assist, with your defense.
