Legal Question in Business Law in Texas
Non Compete Contract
Can a former employer that suddenly terminated me actually inforce a non compete? It is good for one year and only applicatble to me assigned sales region (EAST COAST). So if I take a job in the West Coast they really cannot due anything about it, correct? I only worked for the company for 6 months and 11 Days. They hired me away from another competitor for the purpose of removing a competiator.
So basically they hired me took my customers away then fired me.
ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT!
Regards,
Dan

Re: Non Compete Contract
Non-competes are very common, but are often deemed to be unenforceable by courts where the company tries to enforce them. Of course, if you are not violating the provisions, there should be no problem. In other words, if the geographic scope is the east coast (however that would be defined) and you are in California, you would not be violating the non-compete.

Re: Non Compete Contract
From the information you've provided, the non-compete probably would not be enforced in Texas.
There's no telling what they may do on the West Coast in interpreting Texas law.
