Legal Question in Business Law in Texas

what are my options?

At my place of employment, one of our receptionists went on maternity leave, so they hired a new receptionist to take her place. She is now back and me and the other receptionist were questioning what was going to happen to our schedules. I asked my boss and he assured me that whatever decision he made, it would be a fair one. Well, we got out schedules last week and, he cut my hours from 30hrs to 20hrs. He cut the other receptionist's hours from 40 to 12 just so that the receptionist that came back from maternity leave could have her full 40 hours.

I feel like this decision was completely unfair and it feels like favoritism. I've been doing my research and so far, the only favoritism that I've found that is not allowed is sexual favoritism and I doubt they are having a sexual relationship.

He told us that the reason he did this was because she had seniority over us. We have complained to him on numerous occasions on how she is spreading lies about us and how she is boasting that she is going to get us both fired. She even had her neice fill out an application and got an interview with our boss for MY position! Even though we have talked to him, no action was taken except cutting our hours! What are my options??

Re: what are my options?

Sorry. Your story offers no options other than for you to find another job. "Unfair" rarely recovers in employment cases. The employer controls the terms and conditions of employment all of which your story describes.
