Legal Question in Business Law in Texas
partnership law
My son went into business partnership with his Fiance' in Feb 08. June 16 the partnership and engagement ended due to a 3 minute fight over finances. The dissolution came at 3:40pm on 6/16/08. Sometime that evening the ex-partner came into the business, took the business checkbook and wrote a $5300.00 check to pay off debt on a credit card, the ex-partner also took original receipts and then proceeded to slander the remaining business partner (my son) and harm his business reputation. What legal recourse do we have over these actions?

Re: partnership law
The ex-partner committed the tort of conversion to the partnership assets assuming the credit card was not a company credit card. Of course if the $5300 was her share of the account, then other factors may have to be considered. Defamation to business reputation will have to be proven. Good Luck.
