payment
my wife and i paid 600 dollars to get carpet put in,a contract was signed,the person never put the carpet in,he gave us back 300 ,now we are trying to get the remaining balance of 300,but he is avoiding our calls,what actions can we take?

Step one: Send him a demand letter, giving him thirty days to pay you back. Send it certified mail, return receipt requested. If he doesn't pay you, then you can file a small claims court.
Step two: after the thirty days have lapsed, file a small claims case against him. They have forms that you can do yourself, and the fees aren't very high.
I wouldn't hold my breath, though. The guy probably doesn't have the money to pay you.
