I own a business building in Canton, Tx that I have up for sale. The land the building sits on is leased by me from the land owner. A prospective buyer of my building spoke to the land owner requesting the status of my lease payment account with the owner of the land. I agree that the prospective buyer could find out verbally the status of my account but, the prospective buyer was given a printed copy of my lease statement showing my name, address, payment history and balance owed without my permission or knowledge. The prospective buyer backed out of the purchase (nothing was ever signed between myself and the prospective buyer but, they had put up a $1,000 deposit and $900.00 of it was returned to them). The prospective buyer had several reasons for backing out of the purchase. My question is, did the land owner have a legal right to provide the prospective buyer a printed copy of my lease payment statement without my knowledge or consent?
