Legal Question in Business Law in Texas
Selling crafted items with others' copyrighted logos on them
I recently made a product using old cardboard boxes from beer cases. A lot of people were interested in buying them from me, but I was weary of selling them due to the fact that it may be infringing on a copyright violation. If I buy the beverages, do I own the boxes and have the right to do anything I want with them? Would this include selling them? What about people that sell them to recycling plants and get money? Is their a difference?

Re: Selling crafted items with others' copyrighted logos on them
This is mostly a trademark question, rather than copyright. You were right to be cautious. If you produce something with their logo that puts them in a bad light, or if they think it puts them in a bad or negative light, you may be faced with a very expensive lawsuit.
Selling cartons for scrap is not the same as selling a product that shows their logo; one is destroyed while the other may be around for a long time.
