Legal Question in Business Law in Texas
Selling Imitation Handbags
I have a website and was looking for purses to buy and resell. Is it legal to sell purses that resemble brand name purses such as Brighton. There are a million websites advertising ''designer inspired'' bags. Whats the deal?

Re: Selling Imitation Handbags
Selling things that resemble brand name items, and may be mistaken for brand name items upon casual inspection, is called counterfeiting, and the feds take a very dim view of it.

Re: Selling Imitation Handbags
You would have more luck finding purses that are distinctive and developing your own brand. If the purses look good, then they will sell and you won't be breaking the law.
