Legal Question in Business Law in Texas
I signed a contract with a recruiter to review scientific data for their client. The price the recruiter told me I would get was $5/item. Recently the actual client sent me a bill showing payment. The price on the invoice is $15/item. It seems the recruiter will be taking $10/item out of that payment. I would like to know if this is considered fraud and if I can actually get the full amount the client paid.

You signed a contract to be paid $5/item. They are paying you $5/item, correct? It is not fraud to comply with the terms of a valid contract. The recruiter signed a contract with its client to have work performed at a set rate. The recruiter then contracts with somebody, in this case you, to do the work at a lower rate so the recruiter is getting paid the difference. That is how these things work. You are not entitled to more than what you contracted for.
