Legal Question in Business Law in Texas
I signed a nondisclosure, non solicitation and a confidentiality agreement with the company I was working for. I got laid off and tried to start my own company. I talked with one of the companies that my previous employer was doing work for. He has now filled suite against me. I never got the company going and never did any work for this company. I talked to his lawyer and he told me it was because I started the company to do work for this company and take work from them. Can they sue over just me talking to them? They don't know why I was talking to them. The agreement was for 12 months. As long as I did not do anything for them for 12 months I did nothing wrong. Does that mean that I can't talk to them for 12 months?

Aside from taking business from this customer of your prior employer, what other reason would you have for talking to that customer? What will that customer's people say if they are asked about why you were talking to them?
