i sold a retail store during a workday, who gets the sales on closing day, me or the buyer

You would have to look at the sales agreement for the controlling language.
The agreement would provide either a flat fee (the purchase price is fixed no matter what, so sales on closing day wouldn't matter), or some sort of proration. (Some of the sales go to the seller and some go to the buyer.)
