Legal Question in Business Law in Texas
I was wondering if you could give one of your prior students some court advice.
I broke up with my girlfriend 2months ago, before we broke up I had purchased a car in my name and made a contract with her.
She would pay a certain amount starting last October and she would keep the car if she kept up the payments.
She has not paid since and I am titled and registered owner of the car and I want it back. Since then she has evaded me and I cant report the car stolen because its a civil matter. Since she knows I want to take the car, she has tried to pay me what she owes but I want my vehicle back. She does not have a steady job to keep paying for the car and I fear for my property while it is in her hands. Do you think I would have a good case in civil court?

Do you think you cannot report the car as stolen because the police told you it is a civil matter? I'd suggest you call them back and make a more serious effort to report the car stolen.
You certainly also have a civil claim against her for the vehicle.
