Work from home
Is working from home against the law? Since I would be working for a company, it is not my business.
I am considering working for a medical and/or legal transcription service from my home. They will provide all the equipment: computer, printer, phone line, etc.

Working from home isn't against the law. That's called "telecommuting".
What may be illegal is where someone in a subdivision is running a business open to the general public, and the restrictive covenants governing the subdivision prohibit that activity.
