Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Texas
My boyfriend and I, both on disability went to try and rent an apartment. On the first background check he didn't pass because of something to recent on his history. They told us to do it under me because I passed. We did, however the income was tight. Then they called and told me that I didn't pass because i broke a lease 6 yrs ago. When questioned they told me they only go back 2 yrs and they have no idea why they went back 6 yrs and they would call me when it was straighten out. No call came. When we called back they said no because the history 6 yrs ago. The lease was broken because I was too sick to take care of myself and my children, I moved into my mothers place. I firmly believe that because we are both on disability and income is tight that they denied us. Is there anything that can be done about this situation?

Find an individual to rent from and establish a good credit with that person. The companies do not have to rent to you.
