Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Texas
How can I change my name and gender marker on all of my legal documentation as a transsexual person without having to enlist the aid of an attorney?

You should go ahead and hire a lawyer to do this for you. It is somewhat complicated.
TECHNICALLY, a court doesn't have the authority to sign an order that "changes your gender." However, I once got a Judge in Dallas County to do it. At the final hearing, the Judge asked me, "What is your authority for changing the gender?" I said, "I haven't found it yet." She signed the order.
