Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Texas
Fitness center fairness
Hi,
There is a fitness center in my city that I wanted to join and wanted my husband as my workout partner. When I went to get information to join they told me that is was exclusively a female fitness center and males were not allow in. Can that do that? I don't think it is fair that man husband is being discriminated because of his male gender. I have never heard of a male only fitness club. I think the club is really nice and will love to go to it if my husband was welcome to join with me. My question is Can they discriminated against my husband by not letting him join the club because he is a male?
Thank you in advance for you answer.

Generally speaking, under federal and Texas law, a private health or fitness facility can limit its membership to one gender.
