Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Texas

I was in lease with a roomate that assaulted me and I am leaving the lease, because the cops cam and took him away and I do not want to live there anymore, because I am afraid for my safety. I have only a few months left on the lease and the land lord says I cant go because I owe the rest of the lease. I took most of my things and put them in storage, but the rest of my furniture is locked in the room. What rights or options do I have. What responsibility do I have to pay the rent? My roomate who is labeled clinicly bipolar and insane by the government and gets a check or free ride not to work is still there and the land lord knows the situation and does not care and wants to hold me to a place I do not feel safe in! What can I do?

Number one: break the lease. You can't live with a crazy person.

Number two: find some large, ugly friends, and go over to the apartment and get your stuff.
