Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Texas
I am an ex mistress and feel like I want to come clean to my ex lovers wife and our workplace where we work together... He is threatening me saying that's blackmail and if I tell anyone he will sue me. I have not asked for money or anything from this man I only want to let the truth be known so I can move on. Is what I'm wanting to do illegal?
1 Answer from Attorneys
No, it isn't illegal to tell the truth but you should really think about the implications of what you are considering. You will definitely ruin his marriage. Probably cause problems for his job, too. However, you may not be concerned with the impact on his life but at least you should think about the impact on your life. If you disclose that issue at work you also may see negative repercussions at work. People may distance themselves from you. You may be perceived as a troublemaker or problem in the workplace to co-workers or management. Management could fire you to get rid of the uncomfortable situation you may create.
