Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Texas
Property Damage
In a Walmart parking lot ,private propert, a lady hit our dodge truck with her basket. We were in the truck at the time. The lenght of the deep scratch is at least one foot, The woman did not stop, only continued down the side of the truck without concern. We got out of the truck to confront her with it and she said she would not provide us with any information that it was ''not a big deal'' that people hit her truck all the time. I called the police and after some arguing finally made them come out so I could get her information. Her insurance will not pay for the damage since it was not done with her truck. This is so wrong to me. She, is at fault and knows it. She believes it is not a big deal, but to me it is. I work very hard in the army for my belongings and feel she should be liable. Not my insurance company. (usaa). Please what is the next step? The judicial system is complicated and I don't even know where to begin to file any suit. Do we have a case?

Re: Property Damage
You are going to have a hard time finding an attorney to represent you in this matter because it is for such a small monetary value for most attorneys.
However, your best bet is to contact your local law schools to see if they have a legal aid clinic that will provide free legal help.
There are three law schools around Houston. Texas Southern University, The University of Houston and South Texas College of Law.
