Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Texas

it's actually a problem. the land lady we were renting from in killeen, texas took back our deposit. we left texas on may 7, 2007 she gave us a $400 check for our deposit after she inspected our apartment. my husband deposited that check on the 21st of may and the land lady called us on the 29th of may saying she found something wrong and wants the money back. now we just found out on the 31st of may that my husband's back gave her back the money. first of all i thought that the bank doing things with the account without consent was illegal and then the land lady was in the wrong because she gave us the check saying that everything was fine. i don't know what to do or who to talk to. could you please help us.

If you mean your BANK gave her back the money....you should write the bank a certified return receipt letter asking for the $400...keep a copy...but first call the bank..or go to the bank...and if not successful hire a lawyer in Killeen...the bank should be responsible for attorney fees...
