Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Texas

School Rights

My school had just made a new rule that all guys, have to tuck in their shirts. I for one think this is a stupid rule and I'm trying to do everything possible to not have to do this. I heard a while back on 20/20 or primetime live this story about a girl that couldn't play football so they claimed title 9 or something and sued the shcool. I don't know exacly what title nine is, i think it might be just for sports, but if you know anything about how I can get out of this would you please email me, and if you could send me where it says it, so I could print it out and take it to school.

Re: School Rights

Save yourself the trouble. There are some battles not worth fighting, and this is one.

Dress codes are routinely upheld by the courts and have been for decades. Any reasonable restriction on dress will be upheld as being in the best interests of the institution.

Be glad that you don't have to wear a uniform, as that would be legal also.

Save your youthful energy for a cause of greater social significance and one where you stand a chance of changing things.

Good luck. Don't ever quit questioning. Take nothing for granted. Most of all, keep thinking. There is not enough of that these days.
