Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Texas

Strip searching 13 year old students at school

My step daughter was made to pull off her pants to see if she had another students check. The other child lost a check for $25.00 made out to the school for something. She noticed it missing after breakfast. All the students at the table were searched. Our daughter was made to remove her pants in the restroom, because her pants didn't have any pockets. The other students just had their pockets searched. I am 47 years old and I don't believe it is right to make a child remove their clothes for a search unless the parent is notified and given the right to be there or just tell them to go ahead and search. I understand kids carry guns and knives today but this was a little over rated being it was a check made out to the school. Children can't cash a check like this! I am very furious about this and need to know what our rights are. Thank you for your time and attention.

There are several questions that come to mind:

Who conducted the search? Was it male or female or both? Was she alone with only one adult?

Did the school call you about this or notify you in any manner?
